(PATS)Pharmacogenics: Where Will It Take Us?

This latest interview on the Pharmacy Advocacy Talk Series (PATS) is one that is extremely insightful and extremely pertinent for the now as well as for the future of pharmacy practice. In this interview, we have Anirudh Padki, a committee member for the Policy and Advocacy chapter for ApHA-ASP interviewing Dr. Roseann Gammal about pharmacogenomics and it’s importance in the field of healthcare. Dr. Gammal is a current assistant professor of pharmacy practice at MCPHS University and has been for the past three and a half years. Dr. Gammal has completed her PGY1 pharmacy practice residency from University North Carolina medical center as well as completing her PGY2 residency in clinical pharmacogenomics at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Dr. Gammal is also the cofounder and lead clinical pharmacist at the pharmacogenomics clinic at Brigham and Women’s hospital. In this  interview, Dr. Gammal dissects what pharmacogenomics is and explores the progress as well as some of the challenges it brings in the healthcare field. The interview exhibits an astute conversation that highlights the significance of pharmacogenomics and the implications it can have on both healthcare providers as well as patients. There is a lot that needs to be learned about pharmacogenomics but by watching Dr. Gammal talk passionately about pharmacogenomics just under ten minutes, it would be a great beginning to learning more about this engrossing topic.
